Bottom Line Announces Expansion to New York City
Bottom Line's staff and Board of Directors recently completed a strategic plan that outlines how, where, and to what degree Bottom Line will grow during the next 3-5 years. As part of this plan, Bottom Line has decided to launch a New York City office in July 2011. Bringing the message that "Getting in is Not Good Enough," Bottom Line's national expansion offers an opportunity to extend the public dialogue from college access to college success, in addition to supporting hundreds of additional disadvantaged students who seek to earn a college degree.
Bottom Line chose to extend its services to New York because of the city's size, percentage of low-income and first-generation-to-college students, robust college community, proximity to Massachusetts, and overwhelming need for one-on-one college advising. Bottom Line plans to begin its programs in New York by supporting 75 high school seniors in the fall of 2011. By 2014, these programs will expand to serve 225 high school seniors and 180 college students from the city.
Bottom Line has begun a capital growth campaign in preparation for launching the national and New York City offices in 15 months. To begin this process, Bottom Line looks to connect with corporations, private foundations, and community leaders who can facilitate this launch. In addition, Bottom Line seeks to build relationships with local youth-serving organizations and high schools who serve low-income and first-generation-to-college students.
