On July 1, 2008 Bottom Line officially opened its doors at 600 Main Street to the students of Worcester. Just two years later, we are already supporting about 50% of the city's low-income and first-generation college-ready students.

Join us... at the 2nd Annual Get In, Graduate, and Go Far Reception! Bottom Line invites you to enjoy live music and hors d'oeuvres, hear Worcester students speak about the obstacles they have overcome, and celebrate the strengthening of our community through higher education. With your support, Bottom Line can ensure that more Worcester students have the help they need to get in to college and stay in college.

Tickets are $75 in advance; $85 at the door. BUY YOUR TICKETS HERE!

If you are interested in sponsoring this event or would like more information, please contact Ginette Saimprevil at ginette@bottomline.org or 508-757-3400.

Plans for Year 3
During the past year, Bottom Line provided 125 low-income and first-generation Worcester high school seniors with intensive one-on-one college counseling. In the coming school year, we plan to support 150 new high school seniors through the college application process.

While our staff helps the class of 2011 get in to college, they will also support more than 100 Bottom Line college students on campuses in Worcester and other campuses across Massachusetts. Students at Assumption, Clark, Holy Cross, Quinsigamond, Worcester State, and WPI will receive regular visits and phone calls as well as academic and financial advice to ensure they remain on track to a degree. Our Worcester staff will also support students from our Boston and Worcester offices at schools such as Umass Dartmouth and MCLA.

To be successful in our efforts to build Bottom Line - Worcester, we need your help. There are several ways you can get involved:

  • Visit our office to learn more.
  • Tell your friends and colleagues about our plan to help Worcester students Get In, Graduate, and Go Far
  • Make a donation to support our program
  • Why Worcester?
Prior to launching our Worcester office, we completed an analysis over several months. Our research included a demographic study and conversations with many local groups and individuals. Worcester ranked at the top of our list in several key criteria: With 1,300 graduating seniors, Worcester is the second largest city in New England; it is close in proximity to our current office; it is inside the same state college network; and it has a robust college environment. In terms of need, only 40% of Worcester high school graduates go on to 4-year colleges and there is no comprehensive data available on their college graduation rates. Bottom Line can have an immediate impact on both of these areas.
